Wondering who I am?
I am grandmother.Remember that person who always brought a smile to your face for being
the one who always heard you,
the one who loved you no matter what,
the one who laughed at whatever you said whether or not that was funny!
I am that person.
grandma says...
“It’s from Tamil Nadu,” Srikanth said.
“No, it’s definitely from Karnataka,” replied Srijanani.
My children, Srijanani and Srikanth are deep in one of their usual debates. This time, it’s about the origin of dosa, while they sat at the dining table, awaiting Ananth’s special dosa. Ananth is my elder sister’s son and has returned after a culinary trip across South India. He loves exploring and experimenting different cuisines and dishes.
“Dosa is ready!” Ananth announced, stepping into the dining area with a plate full of hot, crispy dosas.
“Anna, you tell us where dosa is from”, both questioned him in unison.
Ananth grinned mischievously, serving us the dosa he made.
“The yummiest dosas are from…our kitchen,” he said, with a wide smile
“Hmm…This is made with ragi?” said Srijanani, clearly enjoying the new found taste.
“How is the Ragi dosa pinni?”, Ananth asked, watching my reaction closely.
“It’s delicious, Ananth! Super crispy, light and tasty” I said, enjoying every bite. “Where did you learn this? Will you teach us too? Or Is it a secret?”I asked, teasing him.
“Not just teach you, but I made this for you”, he said, handing me a jar.
I opened the jar looking confused at him.
“This is a Ragi Dosa ready mix powder. Just mix it with water, and you can enjoy these delicious dosas anytime.”, he said smiling.
“Really?” I asked, examining the jar.
“Yes, Pinni. I thought you would love them. It’s quick, healthy, and also perfect for busy mornings,” he explained.
“Where did you learn this, Anna”, Srikanth asked curiously.
“Err…Udupi…Karnataka”, he said.
“I knew it, Anna. I knew dosas are from Karnataka”, Srijanani started again
“Not again, Srijanani” I tried to stop their never ending discussion.
