Wondering who I am?
I am grandmother.Remember that person who always brought a smile to your face for being
the one who always heard you,
the one who loved you no matter what,
the one who laughed at whatever you said whether or not that was funny!
I am that person.
grandma says...
“Amma, it’s Srikanth’s call,” my daughter Srijanani called out as she picked up the phone.
My son, Srikanth, works in Hyderabad, and this festive day, he could not join us for the celebrations. I could already hear the playful teasing in Srijanani’s voice as she spoke to her brother.
“You missed the festival again, Srikanth! And you also missed Amma’s special pulihora,” she said, knowing how much he loved it.
“I didn’t miss the pulihora this time. I made it here,” Srikanth replied proudly.
“Oh, that could be lemon pulihora?” Srijanani teased, not giving him a break.
“No, no. It was Amma’s chinthapandu pulihora. Tasted just like home!” he said, the pride evident in his voice.
Curious, Srijanani asked, “How did you manage that?”
“Amma packed me a pulihora premix before I left. Today, I made it and celebrated with her love on my plate.”
Srijanani smiled, “So, your festival was perfect, just like ours?”
Srikanth paused for a moment, “The food was perfect, but nothing fills the void of being away from family, especially on days like this.”
Srijanani laughed, trying to lighten the mood, “Well, at least Amma’s pulihora travelled better to reach its loved one!”
The playful banter ended with warmth and laughter bringing in a sense of togetherness.
